LT. Dashaun Jamal Shelton

Dashaun Jamal Shelton unexpectantly, gained his wings at the tender age of 36 in Norfolk Virgina February 11, 2024 at 12:10AM. He was surrounded by his wife of 14 years, Shontae Shelton, Mother, Valarie Williams, and sister, Tashawna Brown Lieutenant Dashaun was precided by his father Raymond Shelton III. Survived by his wife Shontae Shelton, three children, Layla, Brayden and Zora Shelton. He also leaves behind his mother Valarie Wlliams, sisters Sherry, Clair, Tashawna, Courtney and his Grandmother Leona Lewis. Dashaun also left behind his two best friends Jimmy and Azzell, along with a host of Aunties, cousins, nieces, nephews and in laws. Born to Valarie Williams and Raymond Shelton III, Dashaun Shelton entered this world on May 6th 1987 in Kissimmee Florida. He spent most of his chldhood in Maridia where he was raised by his grandmother Leona Lewis AKA Mother Gail. Dashaun joined the military in 2007. He married the love of his life on September 10, 2009 in Annapolis Maryland. In 2010 the two welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Layla Shelton on October 30th. Due to military orders Dashauns little family uprooted to Virginia Beach, VA in December of 2010. Dashaun earned his Associated degree of Arts in psychology in May of 2013 and his Bachelors of interdisiplinary studies in August of 2013. Becoming a SWO (surfice warfare officer) in 2015 was a major accomplishment for Dashaun. On January 8, 2016 Dashaun welcomed a baby boy named Brayden Shelton into this world. Knowing a big family was all Dashaun wanted, him and his wife welcomed their third child Zora Shelton on October 10th 2023. Dashaun was a family man. He enjoyed cuddling with his wife and having movie nights with the family. If you would ask him he would say he was an introvert, when in actuality, he was an extrovert. This big teddy bear was the life of any event/gathering he went to. His favorite song was one that the late Raymond Shelton III loved (Dahsuan’s father), ‘Stairway To Heaven’. Music in general was Dashauns outlet. He loved all kinds of music from Whitney Housten, Michael Jackeson, Queen, Brittany Spears (totally an insider between Dashaun, his children and his wife). Even through four deployments in the United States Navy, and multiple underways, Dashaun never lost focus on what was important to him and that was his wife and children. The “ King Of Dad Jokes” is what Dashaun would want to be remembered as, however his children doesn’t feel the same. Cooking was one of Dashauns hobbies. However he couldn’t do that, but he tried. He would call His mother (Valarie) or grandmother (Leona) for recipes just to please his children and wife.
