Ms. Rosalee Wooten Gray

Rosalee Wooten Gray was born December 5th, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey, to parents James & Lorrane Wooten. She attended Newark public school system. Rosalee then met the love of her life, Donald L. Gray Jr., and they started a life and a family together. Rosalee was very active in her community she always made sure everyone around her had food & shelter her door was always open. If there was anything going on in the community, she was the first to know. She was definitely was Mama Gray to alot of people. She was also a member of the Black Panthers were she confronted the police and protected black citizens from police brutally. Rosalee was a God-fearing woman, and she would sit with you and talk for hours and tell you how good God is, if you knew her you know she would tell it like it is she definitely had no problem with expressing herself and we love her so dearly for that. Rosalee moved to Baltimore Maryland for a few years before moving to Virginia, where she made her home and still resides. She became a member of Church of God of Prophecy under the guidance pastor Milton Atkins, she later joined and became a member of CDM Word Ministry under the guidance of she was a faithful mother of the church. Rosalee loved the Lord. Rosalee transitioned on November 9th, 2023, in her home in VA. She definitely fought a good fight with her illness, she was strong and no matter how she may have been feeling she always kept a positive attitude and never complained. She always said I’m ok even when she wasn’t because she always knew that God would have the final say. She prayed for others more than she pray for herself. She will be missed tremendously. She left an indelible legacy of love on her family and friends, and everyone she met. She is survived by her children, Donald of Newark NJ, Marie of Newark, NJ, Leonia of Wrightstown, NJ, Elizabeth of North Carolina, William of Jersey City, NJ, Tryire,Sacyoia, Corvette of Virginia (Deceased) Margaret, James, Louise,Tina, Tommie, Donald & Au’mar long time special friend Curtis Brown of Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, grands and great grands too numerous to name. Also, a host of close friends & extended family.
