Mr Walter Michael Bright

On Thursday, April 20, 2023, while surrounded by his family, Walter ‘Michael’ Bright, 61, received his wings to forever be with his lord and savior. Michael ‘Mike’ was born on October 29, 1961, in Princess Anne County, VA (now known as Virginia Beach, VA) to the late Walter E. Bright and Vera D. Bright. Michael received his formal education through the Virginia Beach Public School system, culminating at Floyd E. Kellam High School. Michael was introduced to the Lord as a youth by his parents. His parents understood the importance of having a relationship with the Lord and encouraged each of their ‘7’ children to know the Lord for themselves. Michael loved his family dearly, always holding a special place in his heart for his loving parents and siblings. We’ll each forever carry special memories of Michael (Mike or Lil’ Walter as he was affectionately known). From your ever present smile, quick witted humor, to your devoted fan-ergy for your beloved Dallas Cowboys! Michael truly enjoyed life! Spending time with family, catching up with relatives and friends, were all precious times for Michael. He enjoyed many activities, most notably softball, where he was quite the pitcher, and basketball, where he prided himself on having a sweet jump shot. He additionally enjoyed cooking out, detailing his car and fishing (a passion that was passed down from Mom to each of her children). Michael was devoted, he took pride in his work, faithfully serving the City of Virginia Beach in various departments over the many years of his employment. To cherish his love, memories, and legacy he leaves, wife, Deborah Bright, two children, sons, Michael Phillips and Tyrell Lewis, siblings: Richard Bright (Sarah) of Norfolk, VA, Juanita Reid (Elbert) of Fayetteville, NC, Donald ‘Donnie’ Bright of Virginia Beach, VA, Joanne Bright (Edward) of Portsmouth, VA, Dale ‘Patrick’ Bright Portsmouth, VA, and Gregory ‘Gregg’ Bright (Julie) of Virginia Beach, VA. Michael also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friend Shannon Rouse, other relatives, friends, and former co-workers.
